Fender Jazz Bass Special JV Serial. When Fender was sold to new owners in 1985, the sale didn't include any factories. In order to keep products flowing, Japanese market guitars and basses were quickly rebadged with a new serial and put on the market worldwide. Amongst them was the Jazz Bass Special as made famous by Duff McKagen of Guns N Roses. Originally sold in Japan as the PJ555 PJ Bass, this is a first year 1984 JV serial. Very uncommon as most of them had an E serial, this is the pinnacle of Japanese bass creation for the serious Fender collector.

This is a very well played bass and the body has scratches and dents and some finish flaws. The neck has some excess relief which can be easily dealt with using some lighter gage strings or by doing a quick heat treatment. As such, the upper 4 or so frets buss out a bit but the rest of the neck plays great and sounds killer. The G string tuner has a nickel coloured ferrule which looks to have been replaced long ago with the correct type. Hardware is all original and even has the original F logo knobs with the elusive rubber still attached.
